MK Nature Design has become aware of water.org …an organization that tries to ensure clean drinking water and clean sanitary conditions for people around the world. And she donates to Lifewater.ca. As a former drinking water inspector in Canada, I know how important clean drinking water is and how important it is to keep human and animal waste away from it. Matt Damon has joined this cause and brings awareness to the organization. Lifewater is a Canadian organization.
Clean drinking water is critical to the survival of man. The website of water.org states that one in ten (663 million) people do not have access to clean drinking water and that about one in three (2.4 billion) do not have access to a toilet. Often as well in underdeveloped countries, people and animals excrete waste close to or into the very water supply (a river or lake) that supplies their drinking water. In addition, many hours are spent (usually by women or girls) to find or haul drinking water to a home.
Water.org supplies wells and toilets in a program called WASH to underdeveloped countries. It is a nonprofit organization founded by Matt Damon and Gary White. They have provided safe drinking water and sanitation to people in Africa, South Asia and Central and South America for the last twenty-five years. Not only do they provide donations for safe drinking water and sanitation, but also loans in a program called WaterCredit which empowers people to invest in their own drinking water supplies and sanitation. It is also an organization that empowers women and frees women and girls from the back breaking task of hauling water. They then have time to perhaps go to school or do other things.
You can make a donation to water.org by visiting their website or phoning 816-877-8451. You can also mail a check to Water.org, 117 West 20th Street, Suite 203, Kansas City, MO, 64108, USA. I am a donor to water.org.
A similar Canadian organization is Lifewater Canada where a drinking water engineer and others drill wells and provide sanitation to Africa and Haiti. They have been doing this since 1995. It is a nonprofit organization and a volunteer based charity. They also train people in Africa and Haiti to drill wells. I am a donor to Lifewater Canada. You can make a donation by visiting their website or by mailing a cheque or money order to Lifewater Canada, 457 Heather Crescent, Thunder Bay, ON, P7E 5L1, Canada.
